Pekanbaru, May 23 (Antarariau.com) - Low season has forced the countrys largest privately owned airline Lion Group to cancel at least 10 flights per day from and to Pekanbaru.
Lion Air, one of the group members, cancels 10 flights from and to Perkanbaru everyday, the the Sultan Syarif Kasim II airport branch of the state-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, said here on Monday.
General manager of the Angkasa Pura II branch Jaya Tahoma Sirait said there was no problem with passengers as the decision was already made public earlier.
Normally, the Pekanbaru International Airport of Sultan Syarif Kasim II recorded 75-80 aircraft taking off and landing everyday both for domestic and international flights with 7,500 passengers.
The Lion Group operates four airlines serving 5 routes from and to Pekanbanru with a total of 18 flights everyday .
The four include Lion Air serving the routes of Pekanbaru-Jakarta with 7 return trip , Pekanbaru-Batam with 3 return trip and Pekanbaru-Medan with 2 return trip every day; Batik Air serving the route of Pekanbaru-Jakarta with 4 return trips, evreryday; the Wing Air serving the route of Pekanbaru-Jambi with a return trip and Malindo Air serving the route of Pekanbaru-Malaka, Malaysia with 5 return trip every week .
