Sentani, Papua (Antarariau.com) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) opened National Sports Event 2020 (PON 2010) at Harapan village in Sentani, Papua, on Saturday.
"Development of the PON venue and facility in Sentani has great significance, not only for sports in Papua, but also in Indonesia," President Jokowi said here on Saturday.
The president explained that by choosing Papua to host National Sports Week 2020, it can serve as the beginning of the revival of national sport in Indonesia, particularly in the eastern region.
"Therefore, the development budget will be decided, so that the construction can be done," Jokowi noted.
According to the President, the need for Rp10 trillion, as proposed by the Papua deputy governor, will soon be decided upon based on how much will come from the Papua regional budget and how much from the state budget.
"Either Rp2 trillion from the state budget and Rp8 trillion from the regional budget, or Rp8 trillion from the state budget and Rp2 trillion from the regional budget," Jokowi added.
