Pekanbaru, Riau, Aug 25 (Antarariau.com) - The low-cost subsidiary of Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, has started operations on the Pekanbaru-Yogyakarta route with Airbus A-320 plane, according to Pekanbaru Citilink Station Manager Rahman.
"Airbus A-320 plane took off on its maiden flight from Pekanbaru to Yogyakarta today to mark the official opening of Pekanbaru-Yogyakarta route," Rahman said here on Monday.
He noted that the plane had taken off from Pekanbaru"s Sultan Syarif Kasim II at 7.50 on Monday morning, August 25, 2014, to Yogyakarta, with 178 passengers including two infants.
After the passengers had exited, the plane left Adi Sucipto Airport, Yogyakarta, at 10.30 am on Monday and arrived at Sultan Syarif Kasim II, Pekanbaru, at 12.40 pm.
Meanwhile, Pekanbaru Citilink District Manager Ridwan reported that the company had used A-320 airplane, with a capacity of 180 seats, to operate a daily flight on the Pekanbaru-Yogyakarta route, starting from August 25, 2014.
He opined that the Pekanbaru-Yogyakarta route is promising for Citilink.
Since obtaining the Air Operator"s Certificate in August 2012, Citilink had flown 8 million passengers by the end of 2013, with an occupation rate of 85 percent and on time arrival 87 percent.
In 2014, Citilink is the solely scheduled airline, which operates flights to/from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and also to/from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, both in Jakarta.
