Oil Contributes 6-7 Percent To State s Non-Tax Revenue

Batam, Riau Islands (Antarariau.com) - Data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources shows that the oil and gas sector contributes only 6-7 percent to the total Non-Tax State Revenue.

"The revenue from oil and gas sector is considerably lower than the previous years of 85 percent," the Head of Sub Directorate of Oil and Gas Cooperation at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ayende, said here on Thursday.

Ayende explained that the oil and gas decline was due to the decrease of national oil and gas production and the decline of world oil price.

These conditions have made Indonesia no longer as a major oil and gas producer in the world. Since 2004 Indonesia has become an oil importer to meet domestic oil demand of 1.6 million barrels per day.

"About 85 percent of the current State Budget Revenues are from tax. If the state revenues in 2018 were Rp1,800 trillion then oil and gas only contributed Rp77 trillion," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Administration and Finance Affairs Unit of Upstream Oil and Gas Business Unit, Supriyono, said Indonesia s oil reserves in 2016 stood only 0.2 percent of the world s total oil, and ranked 29th in the world.

"Meanhile, Indonesia s gas was 1.5 percent of the world's total gas reserves and ranked 14th in the world," he noted, hoping that the media could give understanding to the people that the upstream oil and gas industry has a high risk and plays as a locomotive of national economy.

"The decline in oil and gas affects the national economy," he added.
