Pekanbaru, April 7 (ANTARA)- A disrupted 150 KV system had forced state power company PT PLN to impose power cuts on parts of Pekanbaru as of Wednesday. Administrative and public relations manager of PT PLN for Riau and Riau Islands (Kepri) Suwandi Siregar said the technical problem occurred in the Under Frequency Relay (UFR) which serves the purpose of a fuse of hydro-power plant PLTA Koto Panjang. "The problem had caused the power plants Muara Bungo-Banko conductor at units 1 and 2, or the southern system, to become disrupted due to the lack of power supply," he said in Pekanbaru Wednesday. Suwandi said further that the power cuts were not only imposed on Pekanbaru, but on almost all of Riau, with the exception of isolated areas, like Siak,Inhu, and part of Dumai and Bengkalis. The current measures, Suwandi, were necessary pending voltage supply from West Sumatra.
