KPK Submits Dossier of Corruption Case of Riau Regional Budget

Pekanbaru, Oct 18 (Antarariau.com) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has submitted the dossiers of graft suspects in the Riau regional budget in 2014 and 2015 graft case to the Corruption Court here.

Junior court secretary Denni Sembiring said the suspects were former speaker of the regional legislative assembly Johar Firdaus and regent Suparman.

The court would set up the council of judges to handle the case, and to set the date of trial, Denni said here on Monday.

Suparman is an elected regent of Rokan Hulu for the 2016-2021 term. Before his election to the new position, Suparman, a Golkar party cadre, was the speaker of the district legislative assembly

Now he is a non active regent after he was named suspect in the corruption case.

Johar Firdaus was the speaker of the Riau regional legislative assembly in 2009-2014.

The two were named suspects charged with graft by KPK in April 2016.

The case is related to the corruption case involving former Riau Governor Annas Maamun and a former regional lawmaker Ahmad Kirjauhari, both are now serving jail terms.

The district court sentenced Annas to six year s imprisonment. He appealed the verdict but instead of cutting his sentence the Supreme Court gave him an additional one year in jail.
