Riau has third highest narcotic

Kampar, Riau, (ANTARARIAU News)- Riau province is third highest in Indonesia as provincial eastern trans area and regency trans area, as main cause with the support of wealthy people in able to buying narcotics.

The statement was made by head of Bangkinang jail Bawon to ANTARA at his office on Monday. "Riau is a province with the highest number of narcotic cases, third biggest in Indonesia", he said.

The influence was caused by territorial factors and geographical location as a provincial eastern trans area, and the supporting economic factors of the people with the ability to buy narcotics.

Especially with regard to Kampar regency, data of the Bangkinang jail said that of 400 inmates and detainees, the highest number of cases are narcotics with 88 cases, 76 of them are male and three female, but not all the narcotic cases came from Kampar, 23 came from Dumai, 11 from Teluk Kuantan, and the prisoners held at Pangkinang came from overloaded other jails, he said.

In the meantime, the narcotic jail in Riau still do not exist.

Of all the narcotic cases in 2011, their number dropped from a year earlier with 500 cases, now there are 400 detainees of the 302 inmates, 98 detainees, 13 female inmates and 9 children.

With special regard to Kampar, most of the cases are oil palm theft, and the cases of children mostly concerned sexual, and rape. "We are deeply concerned about the cases of children, and also about the female inmates as there is no special place, so that there is no guidance and directives for the child and female inmates otherwise that after they are back in the society they could work well nor repeat what they had done, Bawon said.
