Allaged Corruption In Bridge Project Cause A Loss Of Rp252 Billion

Pekanbaru, Riau, (Antarariau.com) - Investigators from the high prosecution office of Riau said corruption in the construction of the Pademaran I and Pademaran II bridges in the regency of Rokan Hilir, Riau, caused a loss of Rp251.8 billion in state fund.

There were additional budget illegally set for the projects, head of the Riau high prosecution office Setia Untung Arimuladi said here on Wednesday.

The prosecution office has named former head of the public works service of Rokan Hilir identified as IK a suspect.

The prosecution office suspected that the corruption took place under the then Rokan Hilir regent Annas Maamun, who was later become Riau governor and was arrested by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on charge of accepting bribe money .

Originally the budget for the bridge project was set in the fiscal year of 2008-2010 at Rp529 billion.

However, IK and his accomplices illegally set additional budget for the project. In 2012, there was additional budget of Rp66.24 billion for Pedamaran I bridge and Rp38.99 billion for Pedamaran II bridge.

In 2013, the budge for Pedamaran II bridge was set again at Rp146.60 billion bringing the total loss to Rp25i billion in state fund.

The prosecution office said most likely there are more suspects in the case.

Arimuladi said the prosecution office would ask for testimony from Annas Maamun, who is now in the KPK detention center in Jakarta.
