Islamic University of Riau graduates 1,236 students, 10 from Thailand

Pekanbaru, Riau, Jan 24 (Antaranews Riau) - The Islamic University of Riau (UIR) has again graduated 1,236 intermediate, bachelor, and master experts in the Period I 2019, who are scheduled to attend graduation on Saturday (Jan 26).

"Among them are 10 students from Thailand who completed their respective studies at the Faculty of Islamic Religion, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Pedagogy, and the Faculty of Engineering," Chancellor of the Riau Islamic University Prof. Dr. Syafrinaldi noted in a press statement received by Antara in Pekanbaru on Thursday.

Riau Islamic University (UIR) which is based in Pekanbaru City is one of the oldest universities in Riau Province.

This institution was founded by YLPI Riau on Sept 4, 1962. The Minister of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia was promulgated in a charter signed on April 18, 1963.

He remarked that graduation of prospective graduates would be held at the Open Senate Meeting at the Indoor Volly Arena at the UIR Campus in Pekanbaru.

The Chancellor explained that as many as 1,236 graduates included those from nine faculties and one postgraduate. They are the Faculty of Teacher Training and Pedagogy FKIP with 337 people, the Faculty of Engineering 116, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences 181, the Faculty of Economics 246, the Faculty of Law 87, Postgraduate 83, the Faculty of Agriculture 52, the Faculty of Communication 28, the Faculty of Islamic Religion 66, and the Faculty of Psychology 40.

He explained that until the I-2019 Period, UIR had graduated 51,123. They have worked in various professional fields such as state and private institutions as well as politicians.

"We will continue to encourage the alumni to improve their academic achievements and dedication to the regions, nations, and countries," he revealed. The Chancellor appealed to prospective graduates and their parents to attend the event one hour before the event began.

He reminded the graduates that an estimated six thousand people will be present at the event.

Graduates as well as parents and other family members, members of the university senate, invitees, and committee members are expected to be present.

Therefore, prospective graduates were asked to arrive early in order to avoid being stuck in traffic along Jalan Kaharuddin Nasution to the UIR campus or at the entrance to the campus.

"We hope that all the proceedings of the graduation ceremony will run smoothly and finish on time according to the schedule arranged by the committee," the Chancellor noted.
