Pekanbaru, Riau, April 30 (Antarariau.com) - State owned plantation company PT Perkebunan Nusantara V (PTPN V) recorded strong performance with production of oil palm fresh fruit bunches (FFB) reaching 1,190,000 tons in 2017 or 4.14 percent higher than its target.
"The performance of the company has continued to improve," company's spokesman Riski Atriansyah said here on Monday.
Risky said based on its working plan and budget (RKAP), PTPN V set its FFB production target at 1,133,000 tons in 2017 for its plantations totaling 86,000 hectares located in various areas in Riau.
The FFB production of PTPN V was 7.37 percent or 49,000 tons higher than in the previous year, he said, adding for the first time in its history, its FFB production hit the level of 20.1 tons per hectares or an increase of 10.17 percent from 2016.
He said the positive performance in FFB production was followed proportionally with an increase in its production of crude palm oil (CPO).
He said its CPO production fell short of its target in 2017 but was still much higher than its production in 2016. In 2017, its CPO production was recorded at 498,000 tons or 8.47 percent higher than production in the previous year.
Earlier this year, in the "2nd International Conference and Expo on ISPO 2018" the ISPO Commission announced that PTPN V received the largest number of its awards among state companies in the country.
All 12 palm oil processing factories of PTPN V have won the certificate of Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO).
PTPN V chief executive Mohammad Yudayat said the company won the ISPO certificate for the first time in 2013. In four successive years, the company succeeded in meeting all the standards that all of its 12 factories have been given the ISPO certificate.
The 12 factories and plantations of the company are located in Sei Rokan, Sei Pagar, Sei Garo, Sei Galuh, Terantam, Sei Intan, Tanjung Medan, Tanah Putih, Sei Buatan, Lubuk Dalam, and in Sei Tapung.
Indonesia is the world's largest producer of palm oil and Riau is one of the largest producing provinces. ***
