Pekanbaru, Riau Antarariau.com) - The Riau branch of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) said Riau s imports rose in value to US$2513.21 million in August more than doubling imports in July this year.
The import value was 103.81 percent higher than US$75.17 million in July this year, head of the BPS branch S Aden Gultom said in Pekanbaru, on Monday.
Gultom attributed the increase to 39.25 percent rise in the imports of oil and gas products and 124.82 percent increase in the imports of other goods.
He said cumulatively Riau s imports in the first 8 months of the year were valued at US$886.06 million or down 4.94 percent from US$932.13 million in the same period last year.
He said imports of oil and gas products alone fell 22.43 percent and imports of commodities other than oil and gas declined 1.15 percent.
In August, Riau accounted for 1.24 percent for the country s total imports in value.
"Riau s imports of oil and gas in August reached US$25.70 million or up 39.25 percent from US$18.46 million in July 2016.
Imports of oil and gas in the first 8 months of the year were valued at US$128.94 million or 22.43 percent lower than imports of US$166.22 million in the same period last year.
In August 2016, Riau contributed 1.46 percent to the country s total imports in value .
Riau s imports of products other than oil and gas in August reached US$127.51 million or an increase of 124.82 percent from US$56.72 million in the previous month.
The imports of commodities other than oil and gas in the first 8 months of the year fell 1.15 percent from US$765.91 million to US$757.12 million in the same period in 2016.
"In August 2016 Riau contributed 1.2 percent to the country s total imports of commodities other than oil and gas in value.
