PGN Ready To Be Named Gas Aggregator: Spokesman

Jakarta, (Antarariau.com) - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. is ready to be named as a state-owned gas aggregator, its spokesman Irwan Andri Atmanto said here on Sunday.

He said PT PGN has been carrying out its function as a gas aggregator for tens of years and so "we have been ready to become a gas aggregator."

He said PT PGN has so far received gas from various suppliers and locations including from ConocoPhilips, Medco, Santos and PT Pertamina.

The buying price of gas from the suppliers is determined by the government and varies, he said.

PT PGN later sells the gas to its customers with the same price despite their different locations.

"This is the role PGN has so far carried out," he said.

Irwan said PT PGNs preparedness to become a gas aggregator could also be seen from its capability to develop and expand its gas infrastructure.

PT PGN at present has and operates a gas pipe network stretching more than 6,100 kilometers or around 80 percent of downstream pipes in Indonesia.

PGNs operation areas include Batam, North Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatra and Lampung.

Its operation areas in Java include Jakarta, West Java, Banten, East Java and Central Java.

PGNs customers cover households, small and medium businesses, commercial institutions like shopping malls, hotels, hospitals and industries as well as electricity plants.

The majority of PGNs customers are households reaching almost 100,000, he said.

Based on the governments draft law on oil and gas the government plans to set up or appoint a state-owned company as an aggregator for oil and gas.
