Pekanbaru, Riau (Antara)- The Terra and Aqua satellites detected 18 hotspots on Sumatra Island, in the morning of Sunday.
"This morning, satellites found 18 hotspots, or the same number like yesterday," Slamet Riyadi, spokesman of the Pekanbaru meteorology station, said here.
Of the 18 hotposts, 10 were found in West Sumatra, seven in Riau, and one in North Sumatra Province.
In Riau Province, Rokan Hulu District had five hotspots and Rokan Hilir had two.
The forest fire emergency task force had spread 64.4 tons of salt to create artificial rain in Riau, Major Ferry Duwantoro, a member of the Air Force forest fire task force, said.
The task force has carried out the cloud seeding program in Riau since July 2016 with the cooperation of the Agency for Application and Assessment of Technology (BPPT).
