Pekanbaru, Riau, (Antarariau.com) - The Pekanbaru police in Riau province on Monday detained two Indonesian men suspected of involvement in the terrorist network of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

"The two men, identified by the initials FR and RS, were detained after being deported from Singapore," Pekanbaru Deputy Police Chief Senior Commissioner Sugeng Putut Wicaksono remarked on Monday.

Wicaksono revealed that both men were deported from Singapore as they were suspected of using fake documents and believed to be planning to join the terror group of ISIS.

According to Wicaksono, the two men went to Singapore on November 5, 2015, and planned to travel to Syria but were denied entry into Singapore and then sent back to Batam.

In Batam, the men were handed over to the Riau police. Following interrogation, they were found to be actively involved in religious activities and diligent in surfing the virtual world to obtain information on the ISIS.

"The men got acquainted with someone in Syria who later invited them to travel to the country via Singapore, but they were deported, and now, they are still undergoing intensive questioning in Pekanbaru," Wicaksono stated.
