Garuda Indonesia Revises Business Plan

Jakarta, Sept 29 (Antarariau.com) - National flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is revising its business plan for the 2016-2025 period, including its fleet plan which was originally scheduled for completion in October 2015.

"We are in the process of revising our fleet plan for the next 10 years. The revision is expected to be finalized next month and later submitted to shareholders (for approval)," Garuda President Director Arif Wibowo said at the State Enterprises Ministry here on Tuesday.

The revision of the business plan is part of the companys response to the current economic situation and is aimed at maintaining the companys future business growth, he said.

The revision is based on certain assumptions in the aviation business, particularly predictions about the aviation turbine (avtur) fuel price, the domestic macro economy, the global economy and the targeted market, he said.

"If the elements improve, Garuda will be poised for best growth in the future," he said.

The revision of the business plan was necessitated as a response to the macro-economic conditions in Indonesia and several countries including the United States, China, Japan and Europe, he said.

"The strategy is that we will calculate the operational expenditure which makes up for 80 percent of the aviation industrys expenditure," he said.

With the revision of the business plan, Garuda can plan the procurement of planes in the next 10 years, he said.

He said Garuda is planning to procure 60 planes -- 30 787-900 Dreamliner aircraft and 30 B 373 MAX 8 aircraft. However, the procurement of the planes depends on approval of the business plan.
