Pekanbaru (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Air Force conducted repairs on a resident's house that incurred minor damage after a Hawk 209 TT military fighter jet ploughed into a residential area in Kubang Jaya Village, Kampar District, Riau Province.

Lina's house, located some 500 meters from the crash site, was one among the three residential structures to have been damaged during the incident after the aircraft's ejected seat hit its roof.

The Hawk 0209 TT fighter aircraft crashed in the Siak Hulu Sub-district, Kampar District, Riau Province, after reportedly encountering engine malfunction, Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo remarked.

Divulging details of the crash, Prasetyo stated that three fighter pilots flew their aircraft to a military training area in Siabu at 7 a.m. local time on Monday morning, though one of them crashed an hour later while returning to the Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru.

The crash site was located two kilometers from the military base, and the aircraft was flying at a height of just 500 feet when it crashed into houses.

However, no casualties were reported since the houses were unoccupied at the time of the crash. “The pilot is in good condition since he decided to eject himself using the ejection seat," he stated.

The Indonesian Air Force has conducted investigation into the incident.
