Pekanbaru, Riau, (antarariau.com) - The Riau provincial police have named a total of 44 suspects in the abuse of subsidized fuel oils.
They were involved in 44 cases almost in all districts and municipalities in the province, Riau provincial police spokesman Adj Snr Comr Hermansyah said here on Friday.
Their modus operandi varied, with most of them changing the fuel tanks of their cars to carry fuels beyond their standard capacity, he said.
He said some of them were named suspects after they were found buying large quantities of subsidized fuels in jerrycans.
"The cases of subsidized fuel abuses were rife before the government announced an increase in the prices of subsidized fuels. However, many cases were revealed after the prices of subsidized fuels were raised," he said.
