Pekanbaru, Riau (Antarariau.com) - Health Minister Nila Djuwita F. Moeloek has encouraged the Riau provincial government to develop health services-based tourism, especially for elderly travelers.

"Riau Province has beautiful and profitable tourist attractions, but they must be developed properly and should be based on health services," Moeloek remarked while opening the Regional Health Working Meeting here on Friday night.

The health minister noted that the development of tourist attractions in Riau must be integrated among all stakeholders, including for boosting infrastructure, trade, investment, and health services.

She affirmed that Riau has natural beauty that can be marketed as a tourist attraction, but it should be accompanied by an improvement in health services.

The province has a long and white coastline stretching as far as the eyes can see, beautiful charm of the underwater scenery, and a variety of water sports that will please the tourists visiting the area.

The minister remarked that this tourism potential in Riau should be managed optimally.

Several beautiful islands in Riau, with marine tourism potential, must be developed optimally in order to attract more domestic and foreign tourists.

Riau offers white sandy beaches, huge rocks, deep sea fishing and adventure sports, and undersea panorama of fish and coral reefs, but the potential has yet to be tapped optimally.
