Floods Affect Four Sub-Districts In Bengkalis

Bengkalis, Riau, (Antarariau.com) - Four out of eight sub-districts in Bengkalis district, Riau province, were flooded following incessant heavy rains over the last few days.

The four inundated sub-districts were Bantan, Bukit Batu, Siak Kecil and Bengkalis, Head of the Bengkalis Disaster Mitigation Office (BPBD) M. Jalal said here on Thursday.

Bantan was the worst affected of them all, with nearly 23 villages submerged under floodwaters and some 1,000 residents forced to flee to higher grounds, he stated.

Furthermore, authorities in the district distributed relief aid such as food and drinking water to flood victims.
