
Spike In Number Of hotspots Across Sumatra

Pekanbaru, Riau, (Antarariau.com)- The Terra and Aqua Satellites detected 720 hotspots across Sumatra on Thursday, up from 672 on the previous day, according to the Pekanbaru meteorology station.
A total of 317 hotspots were recorded in South Sumatra, an increase from 302 detected on Wednesday, Slamet Riyadi, the stations weather analyst, noted here on Thursday.
In Jambi, 247 hotspots were detected, down from 302 recorded earlier.
In Bangka Belitung, 24 hotspots were detected, while four were found in Sumatra, seven in Bengkulu, three in North Sumatra, and one in Riau Islands .
In Lampung, the number of hotspots decreased from 26 to 21.
"Particularly, in Riau, the number has jumped. There were 84 hotspots on Wednesday, and this morning, the number has increased to 94," Riyadi stated.
In Riau Province, 38 hotspots were found in Indragiri Hulu, 24 in Pelalawan, 11 in Indragiri Hilir, eight in Kampar, seven in Kuantan Singingi, and two each in Bengkalis and Rokan Hulu.
One hotspot each was detected in Siak and Meranti.
